Vibe-coding, a way to use generative AI, is garnering support in tech spaces while raising important security questions. Jarad Johnson, CEO of digital consulting firm Mostly Serious, is finding a happy medium. “We want to leverage these tools,” he says. “We think that they can be a net good for society, and part of that is admitting where it is replacing some of the human work that we have done in the past.”

He says that vibe-coding is a process in which users utilize platforms like Loveable, Replit and Cursor to create software by submitting broad “vibe” requests. Recently, Mostly Serious’s own website underwent changes to become vibe-coded. This was completed alongside an experienced on-staff senior developer to ensure the team did not run into security vulnerabilities and that the project structure and performance met the team’s standards. “We’re being paid to train our clients on how to use generative AI tools,” Johnson says. “And we have a responsibility to try to push them ourselves and see what they’re really capable of.”
