VP, Business Development & Shareholder Relations Officer, OMB Bank
"My job is community," Callie Swafford says. "I go to events all day, every day, and I love it." Her job at OMB Bank is built around showing up. Most days, that means meeting people and strengthening relationships that directly support the bank's growth.
In addition to building relationships, she works on raising capital and connecting with shareholders, all while representing a locally rooted, privately held community bank. "This is the community we serve," she says. "Therefore, my relationships in the community are very important for our growth."
That people-first approach also shapes how she leads. Swafford describes her leadership style as intentionally untraditional, focused less on titles and more on connection. For her, networking is not transactional. "It is my job to get to know people, but not just for the sake of knowing people," she says. "It is to build relationships with them."
Her civic role on the Springfield City Council connects directly to that same mindset. Being in the community, she says, keeps her grounded in real needs and real conversations. It also shapes how she approaches decision-making. "Everything Callie does, she does with her whole heart," says Seth Swafford, Callie's husband and president of Palen Music Center. "She's not afraid to roll up her sleeves and dive in—even when the work is hard, messy or unpopular."
Swafford is energized by what young professionals offer. "When young professionals feel a part of something that's bigger than themselves, they want more," she says.
