Seat at the Table

When SRC Industrial was in the final stages of completing its new facility, the company lost one of its founding leaders. Dennis Sheppard served as general counsel for SRC Holdings for over 30 years. He died before the building's completion, leaving behind a legacy of dedication to both the company and the community. While his loss was deeply felt across the organization, SRC Industrial chose to honor Sheppard in a way that reflects the culture he helped build—a culture deeply rooted in the community.

Inside SRC Industrial's newly completed Sheppard Suite conference room sits an oversized conference room table crafted by Austin Jackson, owner of Jackson Woodworks, LLC. Jackson built the table with locally sourced materials, including a base designed by SRC Industrial. Inlaid beneath the table's surface are a red pen and a Coors Light bottle cap, an invisible but powerful tribute to Sheppard, who was known to always have a red pen ready for marking up legal documents and for his love for Coors Light. Jackson says this design ensures Sheppard always has a seat at the table–a fitting tribute in a room built for negotiation.

The space and table in Sheppard's honor are more than a tribute. Spencer Cunningham, president of SRC Industrial, says these dedications are a reflection of the company's values and commitment to honoring the legacies of those who helped build it. "We like to highlight the people that built the business," Cunningham says. "The Sheppard Suite is going to be the Sheppard Suite for as long as we're in this building. So it's a tribute to all the hard work and dedication that he put in during 40 years at SRC." By honoring Sheppard in a space where entrepreneurial decisions are made, SRC Industrial ensures his legacy remains part of every conversation moving forward.
