It’s been more than 25 years since The Great Game of Business first hit bookshelves, and today the book is as popular as ever. The GGOB details the open-book management style Jack Stack, CEO and co-founder of SRC Holdings Corporation, credits for transforming a failing manufacturing plant into a highly successful entrepreneurial miniconglomerate. As the GGOB marches toward its third decade in print, two new companion books are set to release late this summer.

Written by Stack with Darren Dahl, Change the Game is full of anecdotes collected over the past 27 years of how the GGOB philosophy has transformed people’s lives. The book has plenty of stories from the business world, but it also holds examples of Stack’s management system transforming nonprofit, health care and governmental organizations. One of Stack’s favorite examples of success is the Springfield Little Theatre. “They were able to move their creative talents into applying some business skills, and it had an impact on generations of people,” he says.

“It's peppered with stories from real practitioners. We put in all the tools and the tips and the hacks we use as coaches when we're helping companies.”

Stack believes the GGOB philosophy can work for any organization, and in order to make it more accessible to all, Rich Armstrong and Steve Baker, president and vice president of Great Game of Business Inc., respectively, have co-written Get in the Game. Get in the Game is an implementation guide that outlines the 10 steps of the GGOB.

“It’s peppered with stories from real practitioners,” Baker says. “We put in all the tools and the tips and the hacks we use as coaches when we’re helping companies.” Together, the three books create the full GGOB picture. Baker says The Great Game of Business is the what, Change the Game is the why and Get in the Game is the how. Looking to play? Both books are available for preorder on Amazon and hit bookstores in October.
