Schaffitzel's Flowers

Jerome H. Schaffitzel Sr. and his wife, Bernadine, opened Schaffitzel's in 1949, and it has been owned and operated by the Schaffitzel family ever since. These days, their loyal regulars best know Mike and Betsy Schaffitzel, who manage the Springfield retail location. Betsy greets customers with a warm smile, and Mike is almost always on standby to share his plant care knowledge. However, Mike's mom, Barbara Schaffitzel, is the sole owner at this time. She is 86 and still works full-time during the growing season at their Fair Grove greenhouse, where they grow their annuals and vegetables for their Springfield greenhouse. Quality houseplants are their specialty, and Mike personally handles the watering. In November 2024, they expanded the business by opening Bernadine's at Schaffitzel's, a neighboring gift shop with a perfectly curated selection of unique products, all arranged in stunning displays.
