A Florida-based company specializing in workers' compensation solutions announced on June 28 it's expanding operations to Springfield. One Call Care Management is scheduled to open a Springfield office this August and expects to add more than 100 jobs by the end of the year.

"We're more than excited to have chosen Springfield," says Steve Frey, One Call's director of talent acquisition. "It's a terrific labor force here. It's geographically situated right where we were needing to be." The company, which began in 1985, has a presence on both coasts. One Call looked at close to 100 cities before choosing Springfield, according to Frey.

One Call has leased space at the former UnitedHealthcare building in west Springfield for its new office. Initially it will use about half of the building's 65,208 square feet, but Frey said the company anticipates expanding "some time in the future."

The 417-land location will be the company's first office that it has opened from scratch and its largest expansion in some time. Frey said the office will house mostly physical therapy contact center employees as well as some people working in operations. The company will begin hiring next month at an invitation-only event.

Nationally, One Call employs about 2,800 employees, 1,500 of which are at its headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida.
