Free Worker Safety Summit Coming to Springfield

Missouri Common Ground Alliance will host a free worker safety summit December 9-10 at Ozark Empire Fairgrounds in Springfield. The summit's theme will be damage prevention and excavation safety. Guest speaker Cliff Meidl will specifically address the importance of calling 811 before digging on a construction project. Meidl was almost killed in a construction accident in 1986 before recovering and becoming an Olympic athlete. Meidl will also talk about ways to develop outstanding safety culture in the workplace and the importance of being aware of your surroundings while on the job site. Paul Teutul Jr., star of the reality TV series American Chopper, will make a special appearance. There is no cost for classes, certification, meals or events, but registration is required by November 25.
