Kevin Bergman’s Outlook on Prime Inc.
Kevin Bergman has been with Prime Inc. for 20 years. He’s worked in IT and the Floral Department, and now he’s Director of Fleet Maintenance. Clearly, his plan to work at the company for only a few years backfired.

His vision for the role: “The first is to create a positive work environment. I’m also doing an empowerment push. I want to make sure people know I’ll have their back to make decisions. But I’m also focused on making our shops more efficient. The shop has become really important to drivers. If we can get them in and out quickly, everybody is happy.”
Why Prime was the right fit: “I told myself I would be at Prime three to four years, but I saw the culture and how it empowers people. There’s no one holding you back or making you go through levels of hierarchy.”
Where he goes for inspiration: “For me personally, it comes back to my wife. She runs her own PR firm and is a great leader. She’s told me a couple of my ideas were stupid, but you don’t always have people telling you that’s the wrong choice. She tells me a lot of time to keep it simple.”
What keeps him up at night: “If what I did that day wasn’t my best. One thing I like to say is you only lose if you don’t learn from your loss. So when I make a bad decision, I learn from it.”
His favorite failure: “I stumble every day, and the great thing about it is I have awesome associates who are more than willing to tell me if an idea will or won’t work. When they do that they’re also being an advocate for Prime.”
Advice he would give his younger self: “Everything happens for a reason, whether it’s good or bad. And if you can keep improving yourself every day, things will take care of themselves.”
