According to the tread on Kelley Anderson’s running shoes, there are about 933.08 miles of marked streets in Springfield south of I-44, west of Highway 65, north of Highway 60 and east of West Bypass. In 2020, Anderson, a photography assistant for Bass Pro Shops, set a goal to run the city. “I wanted to do something that incorporated Springfield [and] my running as a way to explore parts of the city I hadn’t seen,” she says. After 175 days, 229 routes, 510 culs-de-sac and 1,146 U-turns, she completed her mission. This year, Anderson hopes to run her first marathon in a Boston Marathon qualifying time.
