About This Event
Join us for PowerWalk, our yearly event for Sexual Assault Awareness Month! Show up to protect victim blaming and slut shaming and to stand with survivors of sexual assault. PowerWalk will begin with a 1-mile sidewalk march, starting at Jordan Valley Park. If you are unable to march but would still like to participate, feel free to meet us at 425 Downtown, where we will hear from Me Too Springfield’s President, view the “What Were You Wearing?” art exhibit, and spend time with local survivors and supports.
Wear absolutely whatever you want!
PowerWalk is a reclamation of the streets. PowerWalk demands that all bodies are worthy of respect. No person deserves to be sexually assaulted, harassed, or afraid to walk down the street. We demand and end to victim-blaming and rape culture. We are prepared to provide the necessary tools to bring positive change to our community. With PowerWalk, we declare a radical, unapologetic self-love. Through recognition of differences, we will come together and stand in solidarity with one another. Our race, class, gender, sexual orientation, ability, sexual history, or clothes do not make us blameworthy.
