About This Event
OZARK HIGHLANDS TRAIL SERIES
SECTION HIKES OVER THE COURSE OF 87 MILES THROUGHOUT SOME OF THE MOST SCENIC PARTS OF THE OZARKS.
The Ozarks Highlands Trail (OHT) is one of the premier, long-distance hiking trails in the United States. Located in the middle-South, it is well-known for its winter hiking opportunities when many other trails are impassable. Fall through Spring are the peak seasons for this trail. Featured in National Geographic Magazine, The Guardian, and Backpacker Magazine, the OHT offers 270 miles of hiking and backpacking across the most rugged and scenic terrain in the region.
This year the series will cover the eastern section of the Boston Mountains segment. We will pick up where we stopped last year, just before the Ozone Campground, and will end near the source of the Buffalo River. This segment, completed in 1989, passes through some of the highest, rugged, and most scenic parts of the Ozarks.
NOTE: These hikes are of a high degree of difficulty: 8-13 miles containing between 750 and 3,000 feet of elevation change!
Join us every other Sunday starting October 3rd!
Can’t make it that date? That’s okay, feel free to hop in on any future date of this series! Tag along with us as we venture into heart of the Ozarks.
