In 1996, Randy Berger attended his first Metallica concert, and he hasn’t looked back since. “I got really into them at the middle school age,” Berger says. “I got lucky with a band that has had this kind of longevity.” Berger saw the group live for the first time in college and was immediately hooked. “They had a tour my sophomore year at Drury, and we went to see Metallica,” Berger says. “That pretty much sold me.” Fast-forward to the present, Berger now works as administrative director of corporate communications at CoxHealth and has seen 59 of the band’s concerts and has even been in the snake pit. Berger encourages anybody thinking about going to a concert to give it a try because it will elevate your interest and love for the band. However, if you do go, his parting words of wisdom are to invest in earplugs. “You will not regret having a little bit of hearing protection,” Berger jokes.
